Frequently Asked Questions :: Advent Children
Q: When is Advent Children being released in [insert country here]?

A: Advent Children was released in Japan on September 14, 2005; almost two years after it's initial announcement two years ago. The movie was released on DVD and UMD [for the Sony PSP].

Although Square-Enix previously was aiming towards a simultaneous release in Japan and the US, sadly this did not eventuate. Instead, the US releasee date has been pushed back a couple of times, with no further official release date known at this time. Many stores have reported release dates ranging between Janauary and April 2006. However as these dates can be used as a guide, they are subject to change once an official release date has been announced.

Currently no official statement by Square-Enix has been made regarding a release to other countries [UK, Europe, Australia, etc].

Q: Will Advent Children be shown in cinemas?

A: The movie was shown on a limited screening basis in Japan a week prior to the evnetual release.

Information on a theatrical release in other countries will be posted as soon as it is received, if any. While Square-Enix have hinted at this being a possibility, whether it may or may not happen is currently unknown.

Q: What is the Ultimate Edition and how can I get it?

A: The Ultimate Edition [also known as Advent Pieces] is a Japanese boxset. It contains the standard Advent Children DVD, along with a bonus DVD featuring an anime called Last Order and other special features. Also included is a model of Cloud and Fenrir, a T-shirt, keyring and script. The Ultimate Edition comes in a special box and is priced at approx. $250 US.

This edition has now been sold out in Japan. Some online import stores may still be selling it, or you could try your luck on eBay. However prices are likely to be higher than the original selling price.

Q: Is Advent Children a Movie or a Game?

A: Advent Children is a movie. It will be released on DVD and for the Sony PSP.

Further FFVII sequels have been announced for the PS2 and PSP. These are Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core. For information on Dirge of Cerberus, can be found on our network site. We will also be launching a site on Crisis Core in the future, however very little is known about this game at this time..

Q: Is [insert FFVII character name here] going to be in the movie?

A: All characters have now been confirmed in some way. To see a list of characters who are appearing in the film, please check thecharacters section. Please note that we have intentionally not listed a couple of characters for spoiler reasons.

Q: Who is the person in the wheelchair who features in the trailers?

A: The answer to this has vaguely come about from the Venice Screening. Revealing the character on this page would be a spoiler and upset many visitors to the site who don't wish to know. However, if you wish to find out, then feel free to read our Venice movie summary on the screening which has this information. If you don't like spoilers, do not click that link!

Q: I have heard about a sequel to Final Fantasy VII. Is this going to happen?

A: It depends in what context the term "sequel" is used. If referring to a "direct" sequel which takes place right after the game and is the same game-play, etc then the answer is "no".

However, three FFVII related games have been announced. Before Crisi, which is a prequel and was released as a cell phone game in Japan in 2004. Dirge of Cerberus, which is a action game for the PS2 featuring Vincent as the main character. And Crisis Core which is a RPG for the PSP of which very few details have been announced as yet, other than it appears it will revolve around Zack.

Q: I have heard that Final Fantasy VII is going to be remade for the PS2 or PS3, is this true?

A: A tech demo of Final Fantasy VII running on the PSP was shown at E3 in 2005. Although Square-Enix currently have not announced any plans for a sequel, they have said that if there is enough interest in it, then they may consider developing this title in the future.

Q: Where can I buy the Cloudy Wolf ring and earring that you have in the Artwork/Misc section of the site?

A: The only place that we know of where you can purchase these from are through Square-Enix's Japanese website. However, the bad news is that you must have a Japanese shipping address in order to buy from their online store.

However, we have also seen them turn up on eBay from time to time, but be prepared to pay over $300 US if this is something you want to try bidding on.

Q: Where can I buy the Cloud and Fenrir statue that you have in the Artwork/Misc section of the site?

A: This is available as part of the Ultimate Edition. At this time there are no plans for this to be released as a separate figure.

Figures of Sephiroth, Vincent and Tifa will be released individually in August in Japan and in September in the US.

Q: I'm still unsure about my enquiry, how can I find out more?

A: If you wish, you may contact us through our contact form and we will try to answer your question as best we can. You can also ask your question in the Advent Children section of the forums.
